‘Alcina or Magic Island’ by George Frideric Handel is one of the most beautiful baroque operas. Its divine music and poetical plot inspired director Georgiy Isaakyan and conductor Alevtina Ioffe to make a production for very unusual audience – prospective moms.
In the middle of the ocean the island of sorceress Alcina is hidden. Any traveler who gets there falls under her spell – she changes people into stones, animals and plants. Only heroic knight Ruggiero manages to avoid this fate. The great sorceress falls in love with him, while Bradamante, a bride of Ruggiero, sets off in search of him.
