The Firebird – ballet by Mikhael Fokine – have been the central event of Sergei Diaghilev’s Russian Seasons in 1910-1911. Production used Russian folk images and each character had own plastic language and every moving was logical and meaningful. During a tour in Paris Fokine himself danced the Prince Ivan part. Sets were created by legendary A. Golovin and Leo Bakst.
Music for this ballet was commissioned and created especially for Russian Seasons. It was the first time when Sergei Diaghilev and Igor Stravinsky worked together and that collaboration brought fame to young composer.
